HI, I'M JESSICA KELLEY
Writer | Director | Producer
WHAT I DO
I've been a visual storyteller for fifteen years.
I specialize in a range of genres from short news pieces, to cinematic documentaries, live televised events, and formatted series - all aimed toward modern viewers inside the digital media landscape whose attention is always shifting...and fast.
I've spent the majority of my career at Newsday where I lead the strategic vision and operations for video production, consistently delivering stories that serve as the company's top subscriber retention product.
In 2017, I was asked to re-envision our food department's print content into a visual medium. By doing so, I have grown video views 36% and tripled time on site and apps.
A recent poll asking viewers to rate the show resulted in the highest positive rating the website has received on any content item in its history.
MORE THAN JUST VIDEO
I've been nominated for Best Director twice, won fifteen New York Emmys, and a Peabody Award in 2019. My films have been screened at multiple film festivals, even winning two international awards.
However, knowing my way around traditional visual components is simply one of my strengths. My skillset goes even deeper.
I am an entrepreneurial leader who can report, who can write stories that unfold with a plot and complicated, three-dimensional characters, and who can edit video on small budgets with tight deadlines - all while evaluating ROI, showcasing UX design in the delivery, and publishing with SEO programming in mind.
WHERE I'M GOING
These are the best times to be a visual storyteller because you have so many different platforms to explore.
I'm currently searching for like-minded individuals that celebrate narrative storytelling and humor in film and tv.
The ideal organization values critical thinkers, risk-takers, curiosity, making mistakes...but, most importantly, people who constantly push the boundaries of creativity.
UM...DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?
If you love dogs, quoting Seinfeld, salt & vinegar chips, and Beatlemania...we're gonna get along just fine.
